Thank you, Turkey, for the Adana kebab..

Components for my automatic #solar grid <> island mode switchover box are (almost) here. Now toying with placement and wiring options..

Last skiing for the season? #borovets

M10x200mm hanger bolts for roof mounting my 18 #solar panels

Google removes the Android statues from its headquarters in Mountain View. Those were fun, managed to snap a picture of them a decade ago.. https://www.cnet.com/google-amp/news/google-removes-android-statues-from-its-headquarters-in-mountain-view/
Decided to go for 18 #solar panels and a 6kW inverter instead of 14 panels and a 5kW inverted because the 14 panels I originally planned produce over the recommended MPPT voltage for the inverter, and donโt split well into 2 strings. Learning as I go, shouldโve consulted better

Tip for non-invasive detection of roof rafters under asphalt shingles for #solar panels installation:these are clearly visible on an early morning with freezing temperatures. Marked mine with paint and took a ton of pictures at 6 am today, before the sun rises and frost marking go

Received the Fronius Smart Meter, it limits the power export of my yet-to-build solar roof installation. Exporting power here is a bureaucratic hell, I will not subject myself to it by zeroing on the export. The inverter itself, a @froniussolar Primo GEN24 5kW due in 3 months ๐

Sketched the south-facing slope of the house roof to identify where/how to fit the 14 Q CELL 355W #solarpanels I bought earlier (sized 1.68m x 1m), looks like I can fit 4 more panels in the future and split them into two strings. A good site, if you want to do that same thing inโฆ

Sunroom we added to the back of the house last year totally pays off as it is the favorite place to hang out for all, dog included. The sun and greenhouse effect make it 24*C inside with no additional heating, while outside is below freezing -1.3*C.

Pleased to see couple new cloud connected geiger counters appear on http://gmcmap.com for Bulgaria the last week. For years my own DIY sensor and another one in the city of Plovdiv were the only contributing to the GMC radiation monitoring community for the whole country.

Got 14pcs Q-CELLS DUO-G9 355W, planning a ~ 5kW hybrid installation with automatic grid-tie <> island mode switching with battery backup. The @froniussolar hybrid single phase inverter is impossible to purchase, lead times 1.5+ months.. #SolarPower
โCouple days of debugging saved me from spending one hour to read the specsโ quote of the day, at a SW workshop

Experimenting with sound classification using #tensorflow, sound feed from an IP camera #AI I can now take actions based on what is heard, not only what is seen #NodeRed

Hmm @DuckDNS is down for me Might have been my fault, a rogue script updating a bit too frequently, therefore my IP got banned. I blame it on the machines ๐
Join me on March 9th, lets chat on how to create GUI controls for your home automation ๐ (in Bulgarian) https://dev.bg/%D1%81%D1%8A%D0%B1%D0%B8%D1%82%D0%B8%D0%B5/webinardiy-%d0%b3%d1%80%d0%b0%d1%84%d0%b8%d1%87%d0%bd%d0%b8-%d0%ba%d0%be%d0%bd%d1%82%d1%80%d0%be%d0%bb%d0%bd%d0%b8-%d0%b8%d0%bd%d1%82%d0%b5%d1%80%d1%84%d0%b5%d0%b9%d1%81%d0%b8-%d0%b7%d0%b0-iot/?instance_id=1244 #IoT #NodeRed #raspberrypi #mqtt

Testing an interesting Raspberry pi display, piggy backs the RPI, has speakers, capacitive touch and 1024×600 resolution. Planning on using it as always-on home automation control center

I think I have world's first directional USB type C product ๐ @lilygo #IoT #esp32

Router upgrade finally arrives. Family of four working and studying from home plus 25 connected smart things made the old router unreliable. Planning on flashing Merlin. 3D printed a wall mount for the router Measurable speed improvements – new vs old router speed test

Testing a #LoRaWAN node with a solar harvesting module. Sending temp and batt once every 5 min @ SF7. Node is placed near a north facing window, it is showing and completely overcast. 1800 lux measured by phone. Recording battery readouts, will post them in few days. #IoT
Considering doing OTAA once, storing the credentials and using ABP thereafter on my LoRaWAN projects e.g. battery change, reset etc. Rationale: OTAA requires good gateway->node reception, whereas in remote areas this might be hard to achieve. Does this violate some good practice?

Received a SMB20 Geiger tube to replace the J305 I had on my Geiger Computer project. Should work much better outdoors, the J305 goes crazy on sunlight. Works well after adjusting the CPM to uSv/hour constant, see more here https://cs.stanford.edu/people/nick/geiger/

Not to spoil the party, but is this normal now? @Microsoft

TBH, I didn't realize relay coils dissipate that much heat when energized. This one gets to nearly 29*C. TE has an interesting application note on PWM-ing the relay to keep temp and energy consumption low. https://www.te.com/commerce/DocumentDelivery/DDEController?Action=srchrtrv&DocNm=13C9133_DC_Relay_Power_Reduction_AppNote&DocType=CS&DocLang=EN

Will be testing a CCS811 air quality breakout; a digital gas sensor that senses a wide range of Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOCs). Doesn't seem to be battery friendly though.. #IoT

Experimenting how many #LoRaWAN messages (20 bytes payload that includes battery reading and internal CPU temperature @ SF7) can a SAMD21+RFM95 send on a 2000mAh Li-Polymer battery. Currently at 23392 messages, and battery is at 3.826V (80% full).. aiming at 120K messages. #IoT Si it died today at 68323 transmission. The battery is 1400mAh, notโฆ

SAMD21โs internal temperature seems pretty accurate to measure ambient temperature when on battery power/mostly sleeping. Experimenting with sensorless room temperature monitoring using #LoRaWAN

Experimenting with WebUSB configuration of a SAMD21 based LoRaWAN node, PoC works very well so far. Will extend with all posible configurations, so just about anyone could customize the settings within a minute or so. Just plug in, configure and go!
